Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.0L EcoBoost (92kW/125PS), Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L Duratec (90kW/120PS) – I3, Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the battery tray.
    Refer to: Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the hood latch release handle.
    Refer to: Hood Latch Release Handle (501-14 Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems, Removal and Installation).

  1. Disconnect the primary hood latch release cable.
    1. Disconnect the primary hood latch release cable from the mounting bracket.
    1. Remove the primary hood latch release cable eyelet from the hood latch.
  1. Route the hood latch release cable and grommet into the engine compartment.
  1. Route the hood latch release cable and release cable routing clip.
  1. Release cable routing clip and remove the hood latch release cable.

Installation

  1. Route the hood latch release cable and grommet into the engine compartment.
  1. Route the hood latch release cable and secure cable routing clip.
  1. Route the hood latch release cable and secure cable routing clip.

  1. Connect the primary hood latch release cable.
    1. Install the primary hood latch release cable eyelet to the hood latch.
    1. Connect the primary hood latch release cable to the mounting bracket.
  1. Install the hood latch release handle.
    Refer to: Hood Latch Release Handle (501-14 Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems, Removal and Installation).
  1. Install the battery tray.
    Refer to: Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
  1. Install the air cleaner.
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.0L EcoBoost (92kW/125PS), Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L Duratec (90kW/120PS) – I3, Removal and Installation).
    Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
