Ford Ecosport: Engine Cooling - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS) / Removal and Installation - Radiator

Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), General Procedures).
  1. Recover the A/C system.
    Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud.
    Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front bumper cover.
    Refer to: Front Bumper Cover (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings. Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
  1. Release the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose.
    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission cooler lines.
    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
    • Detach the wiring harness retainer.
    • Detach the wiring harness connector retainer and position the wiring harness aside.
  1. Detach the retainers and position the electrical wiring harness aside.
    1. Remove the radiator upper mounting brackets and the radiator upper isolators.
    1. Remove the cooling module.
  1. Release the clips. Remove the A/C condenser and transmission fluid cooler assembly.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
    Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), General Procedures).
  1. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
    Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary.
    Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check (307-01B Automatic Transmission - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission – 6F35, General Procedures).

    Removal

    Remove the wheel and tire.
    Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

    Remove the brake flexible hose bracket bolt.
    Disconnect the brake tube fitting and remove the brake hose clip.
    Loosen the brake hose fitting and remove the brake flexible hose.
