Removal

Remove the high-pressure fuel pump.
Refer to: High-Pressure Fuel Pump (303-04C Fuel Charging and Controls -
2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).

During the removal or installation of components,
cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and
tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination.
Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

Disconnect the vacuum tube quick release couplings and position out of the way.

During the removal or installation of components,
cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and
tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination.
Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

Release the hose retainer. Disconnect the quick
release couplings, then remove the crankcase ventilation tube.

Remove the wire harness bracket nuts, then position the wire harness and bracket out of the way.

Remove the fuel supply tube bracket nut, then position the fuel supply tube and bracket out of the way.

During the removal or installation of components,
cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and
tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination.
Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

Remove the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit
studbolts and then remove the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit.
Installation
NOTICE:
Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Inspect the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit
gasket, clean and replace the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit gasket
as needed.

During the removal or installation of components,
cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and
tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination.
Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

Install the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit, then
install and tighten the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts in
the following 2 stages.
Torque:
Stage 1:
16 lb.ft (22 Nm)
Stage 2:
45°

Install the fuel supply tube and bracket, install and tighten the fuel supply tube bracket nut.
Torque:
97 lb.in (11 Nm)

Install the wire harness and bracket, install and tighten the wire harness bracket nuts.
Torque:
97 lb.in (11 Nm)

During the removal or installation of components,
cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and
tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination.
Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.

Install the crankcase ventilation tube, then connect the quick release couplings.

Install the high-pressure fuel pump.

Removal
NOTICE:
Do not loosen any fittings or plugs on the high-pressure fuel pump.
Release the fuel system pressure.
