Ford Ecosport: Accessory Drive - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS) / Removal and Installation - Accessory Drive Belt

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Remove the A/C drive belt.
    Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt (303-05C Accessory Drive - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the engine appearance cover.
  1.   WARNING: The tensioner is under spring tension. Be careful when handling the tensioner. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

    • Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counter clockwise.
    • Remove the accessory drive belt from the accessory drive belt tensioner pulley. Release the accessory drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. NOTE: Safety shield must be re-installed, to protect hands in the case of an un-expected start.

    After installation, make sure the accessory drive belt is correctly seated on pulleys.

    NOTICE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.

    Remove the timing chain.
    Refer to: Timing Chain (303-01C Engine - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
    Remove the bolts and VCT units.
    Discard the bolts.
