Ford Ecosport: Front End Body Panels / Removal and Installation - Active Grille Shutter - 2.0L Duratec-HE (125kW/170PS) – MI4

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. NOTE: Support the hood with a commercially available hood prop.

   Open the Hood.
   

1. Remove the front bumper.
   Refer to: Front Bumper (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Remove the Air cleaner.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS), Removal and Installation).
   

1. 1. Disconnect the engine air temperature electrical controller sensor connector.
      
   2. Remove the radiator grill opening panel support screw.
      
   3. Detach the knobs and remove the radiator grill opening panel support.
      

1. 1. If equipped.
      Disconnect the air bag sensor electrical connector.
      
   2. Remove the bolts and position the hood latch assembly aside.
      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

1. Detach the retainers and position the electrical wiring harness aside.
   

1. 1. Detach the active grille shutter actuator electrical wiring harness retainers.
      
   2. Disconnect the active grille shutter actuator electrical connector and position the wiring harness aside.
      

1. 1. Remove the push pin type retainers.
      
   2. Remove the bolts and the radiator lower air deflector.
      Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)

1. 
   
   1. Detach the knobs.
      
   2. Remove the radiator grill opening panel reinforcement support.
      

1. Position and secure the vehicle/axle stand under the radiator assembly.
   Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

1. 1. Remove the radiator upper mounting brackets and the radiator upper isolators.
      
   2. Release the active grill shutter from radiator mounting rubber groments.
      
   3. Remove the active grill shutter.
      

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
