Ford Ecosport: Rear Suspension - FWD / Removal and Installation - Wheel Hub - Vehicles With: Rear Drum Brakes

Removal

NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Remove the brake shoes.
   

1. Remove the bolt and position aside the wheel speed sensor.
   

1. Remove and discard the wheel hub retainers.
   

1. Remove the wheel hub and position aside the brake backing plate.
   

Installation

1. NOTICE: Make sure that new bolts are installed.

   NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

   
   
   • Install the brake backing plate and the wheel hub.
     
   • Install the wheel hub retainers.
     

1. Tighten the bolts in sequence in two stages.
   Torque:
     Stage 1:  18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
     Stage 2:  50°

1. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt.
   Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

1. Install the brake shoes.
