Ford Ecosport: Generator and Regulator / Removal and Installation - Generator - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS)

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
   

1. Remove the RH headlamp assembly.
   Refer to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).
   

1. 1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise.
      
   2. Position the accessory drive belt aside.
      

1. Remove the upper generator mounting bolt.
   Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

1. If equipped, remove the screws and the underbody shield.
   

1. NOTICE: When installing the B+ terminal nut to the generator, hand start the nut before tightening or component damage may occur.

   Disconnect the generator electrical connector. Remove the B+ wire protective cover and the nut and position the B+ wire aside.
   Torque: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

1. Remove the bolts and the generator.
   Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. Do not fully tighten the generator bolts until all of the bolts are installed finger-tight.
