Adjustment
NOTE:
LHD shown, RHD similar.

Detach the parking brake control boot and position the boot upward on the handle.

Remove and discard the lock nut.
-
Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut 5 full turns.
-
On both sides.
Remove the wheel and tire.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

On both sides.
Remove the brake drum.

Expand the gauge, measuring the inside diameter of the brake drum and tighten the screw on the gauge.
Use Special Service Tool: 206-D002

Gauge, Brake Adjustment.

Check to make sure the abutment on the parking brake levers are resting on the brake shoes.
-
Rotate the adjusters in or out as necessary to obtain the correct adjustment.
-
Make sure the brake shoes are correctly adjusted.
The brake shoe linings should make light contact with the arms on the
gauge.
Use Special Service Tool: 206-D002

Install a cable tie on the RH rear brake shoe and the parking brake lever.
Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

Install a 2 mm hex wrench between the abutment on the LH parking brake lever and the brake shoe.

Adjust the parking brake cable adjustment nut until the hex wrench falls out.
-
Remove the cable tie.
-
Install a new lock nut.
-
On both sides.
Install the brake drum.

On both sides.
Install the wheel and tire.
